Lets go to the fair!(Re-post)

I went to the fair this weekend and planned on doing a post about it, but then I realized I did a post 2 years ago about the fair that had some great instead of reinventing the wheel...I've decided to just ya go!

I(Anne) took my boys to the Lake County Fair today.  Going to the fair is top on my list of fun summer things to do.  I try and make it to at least one county fair every summer.  Call me old fashioned, but I just feel there is something so nostalgic about "going to the fair".  The rides, the games, the animals, the never changes!  In fact, Lake County Fair has been going since that's nostalgia for ya!

Speaking of food.....

and rides.......

P7290088 Nothing's more vintage than a ride on the carousal!

P7290101 Augie's first spin on a carousal.  Looks like he's enjoying it!

I think I rode in this same car in 1978.

No fair is complete without a train ride.

The games never change either....

Trust me, I ain't foolin' anyone...I know and he knows, I'm overweight.

I hope it's potty trained!

25 cents??? I'm in!

Go Mac go!!

Love the muted colors and big sky in this picture.

And favorite part...the farm animals!

I bet this pig dreams of the same stuff I do....the food at the fair!

 It must be nap time!

How could something be so ugly and so beautiful at the same time!

P7290153Some bunny loves this bunny!  This was the only cage at the entire fair with a huge colorful name tag.  I LOVE that some child wrote this and displayed it so brilliantly. Mr. Sniffles is one lucky bunny!

Where are these three headed?

I got about a million questions after this display.

If you get a chance...make it out to your county fair. If you are in the Chicagoland area, you still have a chance to make it out to the following fairs:

Mchenry County Fair- August 1st- 5th

Illinois State Fair- August 9th- 19th

Walworth County Fair, Wisconsin- August 29th- September 3rd -  This is a great one!

A Passion for Provence

A few months ago, this dresser was painted in Chalk Paint™  .  The color, Provence.  It wasn't quite finished when it went out on the floor.  I knew it needed a whole lot of something, but wasn't sure what.  So it sat for a few weeks, unnoticed.  That was untill it got it's makeover.

This is what it looked liked before it was finished.  It's cute, a great size, but borring.

Here she is with a little more love put into her.

It's makeover consisted of heavy distressing, a little gilding cream, and glaze.  It turned out beautiful.  What have you done with your Chalk Paint™ lately?

Happy 4th of July!

4th of July

We are at mom and dad's cabin up in Eagle River for the holiday week.  Down the road from the cabin we saw this great old truck and knew it would be a great photo opportunity.  We grabbed our American flag bunting, tied it on and took some photos.  It turned out so festive.

Hope you all have a great holiday!  See you next week at the shop...we are open July 12th, 13th, and 14th!
